  Elastomer Cables
High ambient temparature in a steel, Chemical, Cements / Sugar Plants of Aeronautics, Ships, Coal fields and refineries calls for cables which can withstand the several aging condition during operation and also to ensure current rating at constant ambient temparature. EPR / Butyle rubber insulation stands upto 85° C continuous temparature at operating condition and silicon conductor temparature upto 150° C.
The Neoprene, Nitrile and CSP Sheathing are formulated with high abrasion resistance, oil and fire resistance properties. They are tough and flexible to cope with tropical condition of mining and rough floor surface. EPR insulation with chlorosulphonated sheathing can withstand high ambient conditions having long durable aging properties. For selection of right type of Elastomeric Cable, the characteristics are given below.
Flostar insulation adds singnificanty to the tensile the mechanism of load transffer because the insulation has such a superior break strength

Insulation meterial depends upon the electrical and mechanical properties desired and the environments. The most common meterial are polyethlene and PVC.

Type of Insulation
Conductor Temparature Degree C Max.

The short circuit temparature mentioned above are based on intrinsic properties of the insulating materials. It is essential that the accessories which are used in the above system with mechanical and / or soldered connections are suitable for temparature adopted for the cable.

  Flexible Cables
a) Braided and varnished. Elastomer Insulated ( Silicone Rubber Insulated ) single, twin, 3 and 4 core glass fibre braided and vanished cables and cords. Nominal cross sectional area of conductor is 0.5 sq.mm to 50 sq.mm.
b) Elastomer sheathed ( heavy duty ) single core, circular twin, 3 core, 4 core and 5 core Elastomer sheathed ( heavy duty or heavy duty HOFR flexible cables. Nominal cross sectional area of conductor is 6 sq.mm to 300 sq.mm)

  Flexible Cordes
a) Braided Elastomer - Insulated ( general purpose and heat resisting ) single core circular, twin core, 3 core and 4 core Elastomer sheathed ( general purpose and general purpose HOFR ) flexible cords. Nominal cross sectional area of conductor 0.5 sq.mm to 4 sq.mm.
b) Elastomer sheathed ( general purpose ), Elastomer insulated ( general purpose ) textile braided single and twin twisted flexible cord. Nominal cross sectional area is 0.5 sq.mm to 2.5 sq.mm Elastomer insulated ( general purpose ). Circular twin and 3 core textile braided flexible cords. Nominal cross asectional area if 0.5 sq.mm to 4 sq.mm.

Unkable Flexible Cords ( Workshop Type )
Nominal cross sectional area of conductor 0.5 sq.mm to 4 sq.mm. The cables covered in this standard are suitable for use on AC single phase or 3 phase ( earthed or unearthed ) system for rated voltage upto and including 1100 V. these cables may be used on DC systems for rated voltages upto and including 1500 V.
The Cables covered in this standard are suitable for use where the combination of ambient temperature and temperature rise due to loads result in conductor temparature not exceeding the values given in the above table.
